Oscar Round Up!

The Oscars came and went…and what did yours truly do on Oscar Sunday? I had a HUGE fashion fail. I FELL ASLEEP.
<gasp here>
I know.  To my disapointment I missed the whole thing.  Red Carpet, Awards Ceremony. All of it. Not that this is a valid excuse, but I was still recovering from being sick all week.
Needless to say I am thankful for all of the internet coverage on the Oscars so I was able to catch up and see the lovely gowns. I was pretty pealsantly suprised, nothing crazy or out of the ordinary, unless you count Sasha Baron Cohen’s act as “The Dictator.”

Now for my picks (not in any particular order):

My absolute favorite has to be Angelina Jolie, what an improvement from her Golden Globes Dress.
So what do you guys think? I’d love to hear your opinions!

More Awards Show Maddness…Grammy Awards 2012

Last night was the big event…2012 Grammy Awards…there seemed to be a lot of themes and emotions circling througout the entire night. Between Nicki Minaj’s midly  totally offensive Bishop/Church theme, to the emotions connected to the sudden passing of Pop Icon Whitney Houston.

Side Note: Doesnt it seem that as each year passes more and more stars are tragically dying at such young ages? Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse, Britney Murphy, Michael Jackson to name a few.

Regardless, the show went on without a hitch. Jennifer Hudson delivered a beautiful tribute to the late Ms. Houston and well Nicki Minaj continued to offend with her performance which has been described as plain confusing.

Well, the always electic fashions on the red carpet did not disapoint either:

–Was any one else perplexed by this? And seriously Donatella…were you proud to put your logo right on the front of that excuse for a dress, I wouldnt even use that as a bath robe.

–I love Fergie, but man this is bad. She could have used a slip? Or Jean Paul Gaultier could’ve put in lining? Maybe? No?..definitely not, that would’ve been too main stream for the red carpet.

Here are some of the looks that didn’t hurt my eyes…

Rihanna in Giorgio Armani. One word. AMAZING.

Kelly Rowland looking beautiful.

Taylor Swift flawless in Zuhair Murad

Gwenyth Paltrow in Stella McCartney
-this woman can do no wrong!

So what do you guys think? I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Fall Fashion Week Sketches

One of my favorite things about fashion/design, other than actual articles of clothing or accessories, are the actual sketches. Looking at a sketch you can decifer the style, the mood, and attitude and really get into the head of the designer/artist.  I came across some really cool sketches from this year’s Fall Fashion Week and thought you guys may enjoy. I love looking at sketches from different designers to see the different shapes and sketching styles, its pretty neat. Let me know what you think:

 Rachel Roy and Anna Sui

 Dennis Basso and Elie Tahari
** in thisDennis Basso sketch I particularly love the movement of the coat. Its really beautiful.

 Kimberly Ovitz & Nannette Lepore

Love these sketches! What do you guys think? Do you find them inspiring as well?

I am back! After a couple crazy days, I am back and ready to talk FASHION.

So in the midst of what has begun as a crazy week, I needed something uplifting in my life right now…something to give me a little chuckle.

ENTER ANNA DELLO RUSSO. Its about time for another ADR post anyway. I love this crazy woman.

Of course the outfit would’nt be complete without what I sure is a diamond encrusted Tiara..and feathers! 🙂 So the picture shown above was paired with the quote below, regarding how MS.ADR prepares for NY Fashion Week:

“I prepare the looks and the luggage at the end of October. I already chose the best coats, and I saved for Fashion Week. I have a Balenciaga, really bright purple. Then I have an orange floral coat by Prada, and a really intense green velvet coat by Tom Ford. Not black. Anything but black! What I packed is many coats, boots, a clutch, and some evening party dresses – really short. Then I will bring some hats because New York is a really open-minded city. They say, ‘Oh that’s a good look!’ They encourage.

I went to India at Christmastime to prepare my body with yoga, swim, sunshine, also meditation and Ayurvedic massage. I like so much to be well done, you know, all perfect. I like now kind of red-orange chinois for the nails. And then I keep a little tan on my legs, because when I go to shows I don’t wear socks. I do body makeup.”

Nothing like a little insight/boarderline crazy-town comments from Ms. Dello Russo to brighten your day! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Beauty Trends…

So the sag awards came and went…a long with the lovely/and not so lovely dresses were some reocurring beauty trends. Here is what I saw:

Braids: -Busy Phillips     -Diana Agron

  -Kelly Cuoco

Ponytails:   -Diane Lane   -Kelly Osbourne

-Jayma Mays

The braid and the ponytail are two rather casual trends. I found it pretty interesting that they were used for such an event. What do you guys think? Take a few minutes to vote and give me your thoughts!

Thanks 🙂

Monday morning SAG Awards Roundup…The good, bad, and confused!

So Last night, about a half hour before my nyquill induced coma,  I was able to catch the red-carpet portion of the SAG Awards. While I was delighted as a lot of  stars made their way down the red carpet donning gorgeous jewel toned and metallic gowns, there were a few distastful pics that, well, straight up horrified me. Check out my picks below (not in any particular order):

1 Viola Davis in Marchesa. She Looks flawless! Viola is glowing and looks so confident and comfortable. Marchesa definitely makes dresses for real women with real bodies. She looks great.

2 Rose Byrne in Ellie Saab. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the jumper. Rose Byrne and such great individualistic style. She is not afraid to push boundries and be different. Plus check out the the detailing…she looks great!

3 Sofia Vergara in Marchesa. Another great Marchesa gown…like I said great gowns for real women.  The one thing I love about Sofia is that she wears the gown, she never lets the gown wear her. Love those curves!!

4 Ashlee Simpson is Jenny Packham. Ashlee has been out of the public eye for some time now, but it was a pleasant suprise to see her out in this gorgeous ensemble. I love the detailing, and the little sheer cape on this dress. Also, her accessories and hair worked perfectly with dress. She had this mysterious, almost old hollywood look to her. I loved it.

5 Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji. Octavia looks stunning! This woman knows how to pull off a beautiful and tasteful gown. She is showing the world that you don’t have to show skin to be sexy. She really looks great and you can tell she feels beautiful too, which makes it even better.

6 Maya Rudolph. I love Maya Rudolph, but I don’t love this dress. There is just nothing flattering about this. She is such a funny, beautiful and talented woman, and yet she cannot choose a dress that flatters her.

7 Jessica Chaistain in Calvin Klein. For such a beautiful woman, she looks so boring in this dress. The color is great on her, but thats about it. It didn’t do much for her body, maybe some accessories would’ve helped? It just looks like outfit is missing something.

8 Lea Michele in Versace. Okay, this is my problem with Lea Michele, she is 25 years old and thinks she is a superstar. Yes, you star in a hit show, but you haven’t made it that big yet.  This dress is very sexy, maybe too sexy, and it shows that she thinks she is in fact very sexy. I think she needs to take a step back, get that ridiculous look off her face and wear something more appropriate. Maybe she can take a few pointers from our girl Octavia, you don’t need to show the world the “goods” to get a response. (also, take a look back from her golden globe dress, again, leaving nothing to the imagination).

Okay guys, well those are my picks! Thoughts? do you agree or disagree? I look forward to hearing from you all!
