A New Designer Debuts at Fashion Week:

It’s Barbie!–this is totally fulfillng my inner 5 year old’s dreams…

So  I thought this was something kind of interesting. The show was appropriately titled the ” Barbie Dream Closet,” where attendees entered a life size Barbie dream house. There were 6 life size barbies  (Black Barbie Doll (ca.1980) had on Alexander McQueen and CEO Barbie (ca. 1985) was  Dolce & Gabbana  and  Original Teenage Fashion Model Barbie (ca. 1959), doning a swimsuit of course). Here are a few pictures I was able to find:

Designer Chris Benz and Director Joe Zee; Check out that shoe closet! (above)

Nigel Barker with Various Barbies

Manolos for all!

So I have some pretty great news to share. Manolo Blahnik is collaborating with J. Crew on a line of “their classic BB style heels, in prints and colorways exclusive to J.Crew.” Figures on prices have not yet been released, but I can only imagine them being more affordable than an original Manolo Blahnik pair of shoes.

So whos excited?

For some reason, I think the Manolo for J. Crew Collection will be better received than the Kobe Levi shoes from yesterdays post…lol

Let me know what you think!

The Most Eccentric Shoes You’ve Ever Seen:

Designed by free lance designer Kobi Levi, you are about to view the most interesting shoes EVER. The designer describes his creations as ” a wearable sculpture. It is “alive” with/out the foot/body.” –Which is pretty dead on. The names of the shoes are probably the funniest. I definitely found this interesting/humorous:

–“Double Boots”

–“Blonde Ambition”

-“Chewing Gum Sidewalk”

-“Coffee Diner

“-“Miao” * I almost died with this one. Too much.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I did! Let me know what you think!

Look Who it is: ADR is back.

So you guys didn’t think I’d let fashion week go by without a peep about Ms. Dello Russo did you??

So this morning I ran into this little photo and blurb about our acclaimed “FASHION MANIAC”

ps. Anna wore this fabulous feathered YSL ensemble to the Marc Jacobs Show. If you can manage to peel your eyes from the dress/coat..check out those fierce shoes…LOVE THEM. Very Sexy.

And apparently the hat featured on the runway model on the left is next on Ms. Dello Russo’s shopping list. In an interview with Fashionista.com Anna says:

” I loved the collection,” she told us. “It was a kind of fantasy, a fairy tale–like a Tim Burton movie, which is really good for us to get in a different mood. Rather than being strictly fashion like it used to be in New York it’s time to dream. Of course, the Stephen Jones hats were fantastic and the buckle on the shoes–everything puts you in a fantasy mood.”

“So will we see you in one of those hats?” we had to ask.

“I will, for sure,” Dello Russo said without hesitation. “The white one with the pink. I can carry it [off], I think so.”

She will never get boring. 🙂

More Awards Show Maddness…Grammy Awards 2012

Last night was the big event…2012 Grammy Awards…there seemed to be a lot of themes and emotions circling througout the entire night. Between Nicki Minaj’s midly  totally offensive Bishop/Church theme, to the emotions connected to the sudden passing of Pop Icon Whitney Houston.

Side Note: Doesnt it seem that as each year passes more and more stars are tragically dying at such young ages? Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse, Britney Murphy, Michael Jackson to name a few.

Regardless, the show went on without a hitch. Jennifer Hudson delivered a beautiful tribute to the late Ms. Houston and well Nicki Minaj continued to offend with her performance which has been described as plain confusing.

Well, the always electic fashions on the red carpet did not disapoint either:

–Was any one else perplexed by this? And seriously Donatella…were you proud to put your logo right on the front of that excuse for a dress, I wouldnt even use that as a bath robe.

–I love Fergie, but man this is bad. She could have used a slip? Or Jean Paul Gaultier could’ve put in lining? Maybe? No?..definitely not, that would’ve been too main stream for the red carpet.

Here are some of the looks that didn’t hurt my eyes…

Rihanna in Giorgio Armani. One word. AMAZING.

Kelly Rowland looking beautiful.

Taylor Swift flawless in Zuhair Murad

Gwenyth Paltrow in Stella McCartney
-this woman can do no wrong!

So what do you guys think? I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

FASHION WEEK: the color blocking continues

T-G-I-F Friends! So yesterday I was off from work..which basically meant that I was catching up on the rest of my life (sleeping, doctors appointments, laundry, trashy reality TV…etc..etc). I did get a chance to check out some recaps from Fashion Week and I must say I like what I see!

One of the trends I am loving right now is color blocking,  particularly from BCBG. Here are some of my favorite picks:

…and then what did I sneak at the end….a BEAUTIFUL coat…accented in LEATHER. Of COURSE. 🙂 I know, I just couldn’t help myself!

Thoughts?? I look foward to hearing from you!

Fall Fashion Week Sketches

One of my favorite things about fashion/design, other than actual articles of clothing or accessories, are the actual sketches. Looking at a sketch you can decifer the style, the mood, and attitude and really get into the head of the designer/artist.  I came across some really cool sketches from this year’s Fall Fashion Week and thought you guys may enjoy. I love looking at sketches from different designers to see the different shapes and sketching styles, its pretty neat. Let me know what you think:

 Rachel Roy and Anna Sui

 Dennis Basso and Elie Tahari
** in thisDennis Basso sketch I particularly love the movement of the coat. Its really beautiful.

 Kimberly Ovitz & Nannette Lepore

Love these sketches! What do you guys think? Do you find them inspiring as well?

I am back! After a couple crazy days, I am back and ready to talk FASHION.

So in the midst of what has begun as a crazy week, I needed something uplifting in my life right now…something to give me a little chuckle.

ENTER ANNA DELLO RUSSO. Its about time for another ADR post anyway. I love this crazy woman.

Of course the outfit would’nt be complete without what I sure is a diamond encrusted Tiara..and feathers! 🙂 So the picture shown above was paired with the quote below, regarding how MS.ADR prepares for NY Fashion Week:

“I prepare the looks and the luggage at the end of October. I already chose the best coats, and I saved for Fashion Week. I have a Balenciaga, really bright purple. Then I have an orange floral coat by Prada, and a really intense green velvet coat by Tom Ford. Not black. Anything but black! What I packed is many coats, boots, a clutch, and some evening party dresses – really short. Then I will bring some hats because New York is a really open-minded city. They say, ‘Oh that’s a good look!’ They encourage.

I went to India at Christmastime to prepare my body with yoga, swim, sunshine, also meditation and Ayurvedic massage. I like so much to be well done, you know, all perfect. I like now kind of red-orange chinois for the nails. And then I keep a little tan on my legs, because when I go to shows I don’t wear socks. I do body makeup.”

Nothing like a little insight/boarderline crazy-town comments from Ms. Dello Russo to brighten your day! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
